Our Community

Hope for Suffolk

Hope for Suffolk is a community development initiative of WRPC that works with low income individuals who are seeking to stabilize their lives. Through a garden work program, job search and financial stability workshops, Hope for Suffolk seeks to preach the whole gospel in word and deed.

Ways to get involved:

  • Become a mentor

  • Volunteer in the garden (Spring through Fall)

  • Purchase garden produce and plants

  • Provide transportation

Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk

CAPS is a group of churches and organizations working together for poverty alleviation and community development. By sharing resources, information and support our efforts are synergized for the development of our city.

CAPS is always looking for handymen or mechanics who can help our neighbors with repair needs. If you have any furniture or household goods that you can donate as well please feel free to contact the office! We often try to assist individuals who were experiencing homelessness and have recently secured housing but need furnishings to make it a home!

Night Stay Program

The Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk (CAPS) provides shelter for those experiencing homelessness during the cold winter months. Coalition churches rotate hosting the Night Stay Program and Westminster will host again from Janurary 2-9th. The church is open from 6:30pm to 7am nightly. The host church provides shelter, meals, resources, security and fellowship to those experiencing homelessness. Transportation to and from the host location will be provided at a centralized downtown location. All services are provided by volunteers.

If you would like to support this ministry, follow this link to see the open volunteer opportunities.

Local Missions

We seek out creative ways to involve Westminster in bringing renewal by means of personal conversion and social shalom. We partner with several ministries in our community to serve our neighbors in a variety of ways.

Contact the Missions Pastor, Brett Carl, to see how you can help contribute to any of our partners.
