Brett was born in Chicago Illinois, then moved to Grand Rapids, MI at an early age.  He attended  a boarding school called Cushing Academy in Massachusetts for his Junior and Senior year of high school. At Cushing, a bus driver and janitor befriended him and led Brett to Christ at the age of 17. Brett attended Hillsdale College and graduated with a B.A. in Christian Studies and a minor in Music in 1994. While at Hillsdale, He was very involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and led small group Bible studies as well as large group worship. After college, Brett attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando FL and graduated in 1997 with a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Biblical Studies. While in seminary. During Seminary he also worked with college students at Rollins College with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship during the school year from 1994 to 1997. After seminary, Brett worked at Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church as a youth director for two years and then came here to Westminster in August 1999 with my wife Debra. Brett and Debra have 3 daughters- Caitlin, Riley, and Addison Carl. Brett was ordained as a teaching elder in the PCA in February of 2000. Brett leads the youth ministry here at Westminster and also is involved with Missions.
