Growing up in Marietta, Georgia, I came to know Christ as my personal savior as a teenager at Eastside Baptist Church. Through the youth ministry at Eastside I grew in my faith and commitment to Christ. I attended the University of Georgia and received a B S in Science Education in 1977. That same year I married my wife, Betsy. While in college I had been introduced to and began to embrace reformed theology. After teaching high school science in Marietta for two years, I attended graduate school at Georgia Tech, obtaining an MS in textile chemistry in 1981. While working as a research chemist and then as a sales representative for BASF Corporation, we lived in Anderson, SC, Asheville, NC and then Charlotte. In each city we were actively involved in PCA churches. I began to sense a call to vocational ministry while serving as a ruling elder at Christ Covenant Church in Charlotte. This was confirmed while serving as pulpit supply for two small churches in the Charlotte area. I attended Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte as a part time student for ten years while continuing to work as a sales representative selling colorants and additive chemicals for plastics. In May of 2001, I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree. Betsy and I, along with our three children, Katie, Charlie and Bobby, moved to Suffolk in 2001 to become a part of Westminster. At Westminster I have responsibility for our Christian education and small group ministries.
